When shopping for blinds and shades, it’s natural to compare prices. What makes Hunter Douglas different, and why do so many homeowners choose this premium brand?

At Aldo’s Shutters and Blinds in Hamilton, we believe the difference comes down to more than appearance. Hunter Douglas combines distinctive designs, innovative engineering, quality fabrics and thoughtfully designed operating systems to create window coverings that look beautiful and work beautifully every day.

What Makes Hunter Douglas Worth the Investment?

Hunter Douglas is a recognized international leader in custom window coverings, known for developing innovative designs that go beyond traditional blinds. Its products offer solutions for managing natural light, maintaining privacy, protecting interiors from UV exposure and creating a more polished, coordinated look throughout your home.

With carefully selected fabrics, distinctive construction and operating options to suit different lifestyles, Hunter Douglas offers features you may not find in standard, off-the-shelf window coverings.

Discover the Difference: Five Standout Hunter Douglas Products

Luminette® Privacy Sheers

Ideal for large windows and patio doors, Luminette Sheers combine the softness of sheer drapery with integrated rotating vertical fabric vanes. The sheers gently diffuse daylight, while adjusting the vanes gives you greater control over privacy and incoming light. Available in beautiful fabrics and colours, Luminettes create an elegant, flowing look that works particularly well in living rooms, dining rooms and spaces with expansive windows.

Pirouette® Window Shadings

Pirouette Shades feature softly contoured fabric vanes attached to a sheer backing, creating a distinctive, sculptural appearance. Open the vanes to welcome natural light and maintain a view outdoors, or close them for greater privacy and light control. Pirouettes also help protect furnishings and flooring from UV exposure, making it an appealing choice for homeowners who want sophisticated design without sacrificing practicality.

Sonnette® Cellular Roller Shades

Why choose between the clean look of a roller shade and the insulating benefits of a cellular shade? Sonnette combines both in one innovative design. Its gently curved, two-inch cellular construction adds depth and softness while insulating your windows for year-round comfort. The fabric diffuses incoming light beautifully, with semi-opaque and room-darkening options available to suit different rooms and privacy needs.

Vignette® Modern Roman Shades

Vignette Shades reimagine the traditional Roman shade with contemporary styling, beautifully tailored fabric folds and a clean, uncluttered appearance. Choose elegant full folds or crisp, flat folds, with options that roll or stack neatly when raised. Unlike conventional Roman shades with exposed rear cords, Vignette is designed for a more refined finish. A wide selection of fabrics and light-filtering options makes it easy to complement your décor.

Provenance® Woven Wood Shades

Bring natural beauty indoors with Provenance, handcrafted from materials such as bamboo, reeds, grasses and wood. The unique woven textures create warmth, depth and visual interest that manufactured fabrics simply cannot replicate. Choose from different weave styles and levels of light filtration, with optional liners for enhanced privacy and light control.

Innovative Operating Systems That Make Everyday Life Easier

Premium window coverings should feel just as good to operate as they look. Hunter Douglas offers several proprietary operating systems designed to provide convenience, a clean appearance and options to suit different lifestyles.

PowerView® Automation — Smart Control, Your Way

PowerView is much more than a motor that raises and lowers your shades. This sophisticated automation system lets you control compatible window coverings individually, in groups or throughout your home.

• Personalized scenes: Set your shades to preferred positions for activities such as watching a movie, enjoying breakfast or winding down in the evening.
• Automated schedules: Program your shades to open and close at specific times, or coordinate scenes with sunrise and sunset.
• Multiple control options: Use the PowerView app on a compatible smartphone or tablet, a stylish Pebble® remote, or voice commands through compatible smart-home systems.
• Control from virtually anywhere: With the Gateway and RemoteConnect™ setup, you can access scenes and schedules while away from home.
• Comfort and convenience: Automate light and privacy throughout the day, help manage solar heat gain and make hard-to-reach windows easier to operate.

The result is a more connected home where your window coverings work around your routine. PowerView is available on a wide selection of Hunter Douglas products.

SoftTouch® Motorization — Effortless Wand Control

Prefer simple operation without an app or remote? SoftTouch uses a battery-powered system operated by a wand. Gently pull down to lower the shade or push up to raise it. It provides convenient cordless operation with minimal effort and no dangling lift cords.

LiteRise® — Simple, Cordless Control

LiteRise offers a straightforward manual option. Simply push up or pull down on the bottom rail to position compatible shades. With no operating cords hanging down, it delivers a clean look and easy everyday use.

Each system offers a different experience, allowing you to choose the level of convenience and technology that makes sense for your home.
