Shutters, Shutters, Shutters!!!

clean shutters

Shutters are as durable as they are beautiful! If maintained properly, they will last a lifetime! Here are some tips:

1. Dust the louvers regularly with a soft cloth, feather duster or vacuum cleaner with soft brush upholstery attachment.

2. For more stubborn stains you can use a damp cloth with mild detergent. Ensure to wipe off excess and dry. NEVER use abrasive or chemical based cleaners!

3. Avoid excess force when operating the louvers. If tilt rod is visible use it by applying even pressure in the middle. For clearview or gear operated shutters, open and close by holding one of the louvers in the middle.

4. Ensure you open your shutters regularly to allow for proper circulation. Humidity and moisture can build up behind the shutters and cause damage to your windows and shutters.

5. Do not lean against the shutters or place furniture too close to the panels. Too much pressure will cause louvers to break.

6. If your shutters do require a repair, please do not try to glue any parts together yourself. Repairs are quite simple if done properly. Just call a specialist.

7. And finally...our #1 shutter care hack! Use a dryer sheet to dust them...the anti-static properties will actually repel dust.

Enjoy!
